INST MSGS is a web anthology series that dramatizes social media. Based on everything from submitted instant message conversations to found Craigslists ads, INST MSGS shines a satirical light on modern (mis) communication.

Praise from Salon.com

INST MSGS‘ strength is its surprising creativity — while some of the emails and postings being portrayed on-screen might lend themselves to easy parody, creator Justin Simien, director Mathieu Young, and producer Ann Le find fresh and interesting ways to depict such things as some secret tweets or anal-retentive instructions for Thanksgiving dinner.

JUSTIN SIMIEN
Creator / Director / Writer / Developer

Justin should be working, but it's much more likely he's prowling the internet looking for anonymous content. As creepy as that sounds, its all for the love of his new series INST MSGS. His short films, notable for their commentary on the human condition have been showcased in festivals across the country, and this year he was inducted into the 2009-2010 Film Independent Project: Involve Fellowship program.

ANN LE
Producer / Writer / Developer

Ann is a producer/writer who lives and works in Los Angeles. Ann is in a selective management training program at a major studio in their motion picture group and started KiddiePool Productions with Justin and Mathieu for their “side projects.” Ann is a published author and has an MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management and her BA from UC Berkeley. With a background on Wall Street and a culinary degree, she’s in charge of the finances/business and runs the craft services table.  Ann is 2009-2010 Film Independent Project: Involve Fellow.

MATHIEU YOUNG
Cinematographer / Director / Developer

When not traveling as a photo journalist, Mathieu lives and works in Los Angeles as a photographer, director and cinematographer. Mathieu received his BA from UCLA’s School of Theater, Film and Television, and his photography has been featured in Time Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and on CNN.
